Class A CDL Hotshot Program
The Class A CDL Hotshot Program at Central Penn CDL Academy is a specialized 5-day course designed for those pursuing a career in Hotshot trucking. Running from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, the curriculum focuses on essential skills for Hotshot drivers. Due to the expedited nature of the course, students will receive certain CDL restrictions, including an “E” restriction for using an automatic transmission, an “L” restriction for using hydraulic brakes instead of air brakes, and an “O” restriction for not operating a semi-trailer during the CDL exam. These trade-offs allow for faster completion, getting you on the road quickly.
What to expect:
- Classroom Instruction: Topics include federal safety regulations, electronic logging devices (ELD), hours of service (HOS), cargo securement, and commercial permit test preparation.
- Hands-On Practice: Students will learn pre-trip inspections, backing maneuvers, and on-road driving in real-world conditions.
- CDL Exam Preparation: The course culminates in extensive practice and feedback from instructors to ensure students are fully prepared for their CDL exam.
